About Dante Orlando Brown | "From Honeymoon to Honey-Do! I didn't have a clue: After the Honeymoon that I would Have to pay Honey-Dues! From Honeymoon to Honey-Do! I didn't have a clue. Did I bite off more than I can chew?" ---"From Honeymoon to Honey-Do" by Sum of Squares I have a question: why subscribe to a genre? I'm Dante--arranger, lyricist, writer, chief composer, bass player, singer, yeller, and sax player for Brown and Griffin and for Sum of Squares Music. Christ has tremendously blessed me. I am from Portsmouth, VA. In 1991, I finished Western Branch High School. In 1995, I graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. From 1995 to 2001, I served in the US Army. I left Active Duty in 2001 and have served on and off in the Army Reserves. I have enjoyed music since I was a kid. When I was really little, I listened to a lot of Earth, Wind, and Fire, Chuck Berry, Motown, some Beatles, some Franki Valli, some Otis Redding and whatever oldies-but-goodies my mom and dad had on the radio. For Christmas when I was 4, my parents bought me a Mickey Mouse guitar, a red Stratocaster-looking plastic guitar, and a drum set. At age 4, I saw Chuck Berry playing his guitar while doing a split. He was wearing cowboy boots. I tried to do the same thing; except I was wearing roller skates. I split my shorts and broke my guitar. My mom and sister glued it back together, and I pressed on. Today, I compose with my bass, A Yamaha keyboard, a Fantom keyboard, and my saxes. I have a lot of material that I would like to lay down, and I pray that my music will really reach people. I write and compose Gospel, country, folk, hip-hop, soul, and rock. I love writing jingles. I hope that you enjoy listening! I hope to see you at Church, on the dance floor, at the play, or wherever there's good music!
