About Kitsch

"In the realm of kitsch, the dictatorship of the heart reigns supreme. The feeling introduced by kitsch must be a kind the multitudes can share. Kitsch may not, therefore, depend on an unusual situation; it must derive from the basic images people have engraved in their memories".
An extravagant combination of pop melodies, funky riffs, groovy bass and rocking drums, blended with the essential elements and soundscapes stolen from the dance culture makes KITSCH quite different from your typical favourite pop rock band, yet eventually that's what it's meant to become! KITSCH started out as a solo project by Edo Faiella. A Berklee College Of Music Alumnus and former guitarist in Boston-based bands Orbiting Riley and Dynamo Hum, after graduating, Edo went back to Italy, his homeland, where he began incorporating his passion for dance music and music technology into his pop rock songwriting. Drummer Mario di Napoli, already involved in a few projects with Edo, immediately jumped in, adding his influences to the sound. As the project got more and more intense with a constantly growing number of songs, it needed a bigger house than Italy. While going back and forth between Naples, London and Berlin, in 2006 Edo and Mario recorded a 7-track album at Splash Studios in Naples, the MirrorBall Ep. In November a few tracks ended up on the DeadFamous Compilations and the band signed a management deal with Mike Puskas and his MPM Management from Australia.
In February 2007 Kitsch recorded 4 new tracks and turned the MirrorBall Ep into Let the Show Begin, their first full-length studio album, which is already available through iTunes Music Store worldwide, and will hopefully be released very soon on CD and followed by a European and US Tour starting from September.
In June '07, Lucio Pietrangeli, former bass player in Mario’s previous band, joins Kitsch to complete the line up. The trio have recently moved to Berlin and are currently working on plenty of new material for their second album as well as gigging around the city, with the help of Red Rock Management and PR/Road Manager Valerio Neri. Kitsch recently took part to a band contest on www.slicethepie.com and finished 3rd out of 700+ bands, and Edo won the golden trophy for best songwriter in the Canary Island Song Contest. The track Burning in the Rain has been recently featured on a promo compilation by UK label Lakeland Records Ltd. Come along and let the longest journey begin!
