About Gillian Boucher

“In the hands of Gillian Boucher the violin becomes a vehicle of transportation for the mind... Her lyrical approach and sensitivity transcends genres and cultures, transporting listeners to far off exotic places accessible only in imagination.” -Glenn Meisner, CBC Radio

'ELEMENTAL,' Gillian Boucher's debut album produced by CBC's renowned Glenn Meisner presents a melodic palate out to impress. Seamlessly blending Celtic & contemporary sounds with hints of Eastern European styles and jazz, it truly is world music. And no wonder: Gillian started touring the world with her violin in hand at just 15 – first as a featured performer at Green Linnet's 20th Anniversary Gala in New York, and then throughout North America, Scotland, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia.

She has shared the stage with the likes of Solas, Natalie MacMaster, Capercaillie, Ashley MacIsaac, The Battlefield Band, and many other performers.

While living in Edinburgh, Scotland, Gillian founded the all-girl band Maysha, was a featured performer on Scotland's Television Programme 'Tacsi' and toured the country as resident musician with the Grey Coast Theatre Company. Gillian's music can also be found on Foot Stompin' Records album 'Heat the Hoose Volume 2 – A Compilation of Edinburgh Fiddler' and on Irish Fiddle virtuoso Manus McGuire's albums 'Saphire and Blue' and 'Fiddlewings.'

Best known for her duo collaboration with finger-style guitarist Andrew White, Gillian now resides in her home province of Nova Scotia, where she performs with her own band.
