Though born in Oklahoma Freddy is true “Texas all the Way” with several famed Texas songs including “James Michener's inspiration and title to his movie “Texas” others "Texas and Oklahoma" has been performed for both Texas and Oklahoma governors conventions and both football teams, “My San Antonio Rose and latest “Texas All the Way”.
Freddy’s roots and music career began in Seminole, Texas in his family band. Moving on to Dallas, Texas where he worked in the famed Round Up Club and the Bridgeport Club as well as many other various Texas nightclubs and honky tonks as well owning his own Texas honky tonk the Crestview Club in Arlington and the house band at the Peanut Club in Houston.
Freddy and his band with his mentor Paul Buskirk made history with being the first band to broadcast in color on WBAP Fort Worth, Texas.
Freddy has not always concentrated on just his music career, when not donating his time to various charities and foundations like the Texas Girls Choir or the Texas Boys and Girls Club or Musicians Drug Abuse Programs and Health foundations, he has been a mentor himself and helped many of his band and non-members alike in the music business getting songs recorded like fellow Texan's John Cody Carter’s “When it Rains it Pours” cut by Merle Haggard or Bill McDavid’s #1 song in Americana Charts by Willie Nelson and with his invitation to a recording day with Willie Sonny Throckmorton's latest Willie cut "Big Bootie".
Freddy has also contributed to musicians going on to becoming great well known players like Clint Strong of Arlington with Merle Haggard, Melton Quackenbush of Houston with Mel Tillis, and others like Gary Church previously with Merle Haggard and Mel Tillis and Scotty Joss who now is with Merle previously with Dwight Yokum.
Presently he is a mentor and/or teacher to Bill McDavid, Pauline Reese, John Cody Cater, Lee Duffy and child prodigy singer/writer/musician Lauren Beller and her father Jeff Beller.
Freddy now lives in Austin Texas on Willie Nelson’s golf course where he continues to contribute the Texas music industry and his fellow musicians and as his latest song says recorded by Scotty Joss “Back Playing Honky Tonks Again”.
Diagnosed with Parkinson Disease in 2004, Freddy vows to help in research and aide in the needs of other central Texas Parkinson patients.
