About Drekno | Passion is described as a powerful emotion, such as love, joy, hatred, or anger and rap artist Drekno is definitely passionate about hip hop. This passion is demonstrated with honest, introspective self-expression, a hard flow, and clever wordplay. Drekno lists wide array of musical influences including Ice Cube, E40, Rakim, Jimi Hendrix and Soundgarden, among others, and as a self proclaimed "eternal music student" he says he takes different things away from each: content, rhyme patterns, cadence, and tone. Starting his rap career with his crew, Criminal Nation, signed to Nastymix Records, Drekno appeared on two releases("Trouble in the Hood" and "Resurrection") as well as the DCP Organization compilation cd(Ichiban Records), all successful releases. Drekno's first solo release was the "Playin Fo Keeps" ep on his own Da Real Records label, distributed by The Music People. He released two more projects independently, "Marks On My Soul" and "The Business" as well as numerous features and mixtape appearances. After the release of "The Business", while continuing to record, Drekno took a hiatus from releasing product to evaluate his place in this new structure of the music business. Currently preparing his fourth official release titled "Struggle Strengthens", coming in late 2011, he has a renewed passion for the game. With over 200 songs recorded, and revived inspiration, he is ready to share that passion with the world. Struggle Strengthens |
