About Viviana Scarlassa | Viviana Scarlassa is an Argentine Tango singer with a long-standing career in her country. She is considered one of the sweetest and most powerful voices among the new tango singers generation. She has perfomed in many international festivals and has given concerts in the most important Tango spots in Argentina as well as touring worldwide. She has recorded four albums, two as a soloist ("Camino" in 2008 and "En carne propia" in 2010) and two albums as the leader vocalist in CHINA CRUEL a female tango group which performed original pieces. In 2011 her second solo album "En carne propia" was nominated for the XIII edition of the Gardel Music Awards in the category of Best Female Tango Artist Album. Every year the awards distinguishes the best musical productions of all genres. She joined The Latin Recording Academy in 2010, an international membership-based organization comprised of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking recording artists, musicians, songwriters, producers and other creative and technical recording professionals. The organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life and cultural condition for Latin music and its makers. A main purpose of the Latin GRAMMY Awards is to recognize excellence and create a greater public awareness of the cultural diversity of Latin recording artists and creators. SInce 2008 she has sung in many opportunities as one of the guest singers in the Argentine Music National Orchestra, an orchestra promoted by the Culture Ministry of the Argentine Nation. She is now recording her third solo album - the fifth in her career- with some of the most recognized musicians in her country (Diego Schissi, César Angeleri, Daniel Maza, Leonardo Andersen, among others) |
